There are buses along the north coast approximately every hour between Heraklio, Rethymno, Chania and further to the east of Crete. There are also many buses from Chania to the south coast, such as Paleochora. You can get to the Samaria Gorge by bus in the morning and return by ferry and bus in the late afternoon.
